DFTBA: Project for Awesome 2023

This year, to celebrate the 16th anniversary of Project for Awesome, To Change Our World held a small fundraising event in celebration of Project for Awesome and decreasing world suck!

Project for Awesome is a community project dedicated to "decreasing world suck" and nurturing awareness, compassion, collaboration and action into our lives. DFTBA, 'decreasing world suck', raising 3 million dollars over the course of a 48-hour live stream... two consecutive years in a row. It may sound unbelievable but to Nerdfighteria, it's an annual celebration of individuals striving to bring positivity into our world.

World Suck: (noun) unfavourable things in our world. Project for Awesome aims to decrease the amount of 'world suck'.

Project for Awesome began in 2007 when content creators John and Hank Green began to gain a large audience on their YouTube channel Vlogbrothers, and decided to use it to amplify something bigger than themselves.

Nerdfighteria: (noun) The community that emerged around the Vlogbrothers channel.

The community that emerged around the Vlogbrothers platform is known for its ambitious nature and collaboration. They've taken the word 'nerd' and used it as inspiration and a title to be proud of, achieving some incredible things along the way.

Our event had a wonderful atmosphere, and I am proud to say we were successful in sharing valuable knowledge and raising $300 to donate! Quizzes were popular amongst the adolescents and approached enthusiastically by everyone's competitive streaks...

The best part was being surrounded by people who whole-heartedly supported a project I am so passionate about.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to every single person who helped out in some way with the event. Planning, set up, preparing snacks, photography, organisation, hyping the event up; every little task led the way to a joyful event. Project for Awesome 2023 was a success thanks to you! DFTBA xx
