Project for Awesome 2022

On Tuesday, February 22nd, I held a fundraiser with the help of my good friends, supporting Project for Awesome 2022! We set up our space with market stalls, lining the perimeter of the room with tables to display our baked goods, plants, second-hand clothing, books, raffle and posters. Everyone from our Adolescent Program got involved and lent a hand. We had an absolute blast hosting our event and ended up raising over $230 to donate to Project for Awesome 2022! The whole morning made me so unbelievably happy and proud. We did so well working together and it feels really good to spread the knowledge and make a tangible change.♡

Project for Awesome (P4A) is a 48-hour live stream organised by brothers John & Hank Green, to raise money and awareness of charities and decrease world suck. Half the money raised (through donations, merchandise and company matching donations) goes to Save the Children & Partners in Health (PIH) - an official charity currently building a much-needed Maternal Centre of Excellence in Kono District, Sierra Leone.

In Sierra Leone 1 in 17 women run the risk of dying in pregnancy or childbirth. Childbirth and motherhood should be a time to celebrate, not fear. PIH is working to combat these tragic statistics and decrease world suck by improving the current maternal care available while raising the funds to build a new Maternal Centre of Excellence. The centre was able to break ground in April 2021 after raising $2,367,704 in 2021’s P4A livestream! John & Hank Green, who have been organising this event since 2007, run the official channel Vlogbrothers on YouTube, posting 4-minute videos twice a week on world-relevant content. John Green is the award-winning author of The Fault In Our Stars amongst other books and runs the education channel Crash Course. Hank Green is the author of An Absolutely Remarkable Thing and produces Sci Show amongst other projects.

"The livestream is where things get wacky...It’s an adventure. You never know what will happen, so tune in and join the party!" The livestream will be on the Vlogbrothers channel on YouTube, running for 48 hours from 12pm EST on February 25th through 11:59am EST on February 27th. (For those in Western Australia that means 1am AWST Saturday February 26th to 1am AWST Monday February 27th). Link to the livestream below.
