One of the first simple changes that comes to mind for me is reducing single-use plastic consumption. With so many alternatives easily accessible you'll find that once you make the change, you'll wonder why you went so long with harmful plastics in the first place.

"Think about it. Why would you make something that you're going to use for a few minutes out of a material that's basically going to last forever, and you're just going to throw it away. What's up with that?". - plasticfreejuly.org
Plastic does indeed last forever. In fact, nearly all the plastic ever created still exists in some form today. The yearly use of takeaway coffee cups in Australia alone could stretch around our world... twice! Definitely time for a change. That's where you come in!
Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution - so we can have cleaner streets, oceans and beautiful communities. Plastic Free July provides resources and ideas to help you (and millions of others around the world) reduce single-use plastic waste everyday at home, work, school and even at your local café.
Join the community by taking the challenge, spreading the word and refusing single-use plastics.
Simple Changes to get started
Bring your own reusable coffee cup every time you go out.
Use your own reusable bags for fruit and veggies and avoid pre-packaged packs.
Reusable shopping bags: always keep one handy (tip: leave one in your bag and car).
Refuse plastic straws: ask for paper or bring your own reusable one (metal straws are great).
Don't buy plastic water bottles, rather refill your own reusable one (bonus: most reusable bottles keep the water cold all day!).
Always check if packaging or cartons are recyclable or compostable and dispose of them correctly.
Be part of this challenge for change and start refusing single-use plastics today.
